Groups Welcome! That's the message from tourism bosses and
attractions in north east Derbyshire, who have joined forces to
show group tour and visit organisers the huge range of
opportunities the area - and the wider Peak District - have to
offer.
Official tourist board Visit Peak District & Derbyshire,
Renishaw Hall & Gardens and Chesterfield Tourist Information
Centre have teamed up to organise an informal Groups Welcome Day at
the Hall, near Chesterfield, on Thursday March 29.
Up to 80 places are available for fact-finding sessions to
promote the appeal of Renishaw Hall & Gardens, other leading
attractions - both in the area and beyond, and the busy market town
of Chesterfield to the competitive group market.
The informative day will start with presentations by David
Thornton, Head of Marketing and Deputy Chief Executive of Visit
Peak District & Derbyshire, and Alexandra Sitwell, owner of
Renishaw Hall & Gardens.
A short tour of the Hall & Gardens will be followed by lunch
and networking - including up to 15 spaces for local attractions to
market their assets, followed by an afternoon visit to
Chesterfield, which will include the town's bustling Thursday flea
market, coach parking facilities and afternoon tea at the
Pomegranate Theatre.
"This is an ideal chance for tour and group visit organisers
across the country to find out about the wide variety of options
that both Renishaw Hall & Gardens and other attractions in our
area can offer to anyone organising group tours and visits," said
David Thornton.
"It's also a brilliant opportunity for other attractions to book
a stand and make group tour and visit organisers aware of what's
coming up throughout 2012 - which promises to be a bumper year for
tourism thanks to the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and the London
Olympics - and beyond. I'd advise anyone who wants to get involved
to book as soon as possible to make sure they don't miss out."
Added Alexandra Sitwell: "We are delighted to host tour and
group organisers here to Renishaw Hall & Gardens to show just
what we have to offer for a great day out. We have a fantastic year
of events planned, not least to celebrate the Queen's Jubilee, and
hope that from this Welcome Day, groups will choose to visit my
home and enjoy its grounds, tours and exhibitions."
