Birmingham City Council has given Crest Nicholson the green
light to deliver another landmark phase of its Park Central
development in Birmingham city centre.
Detailed Planning Consent has been granted for the central phase
of Park Central which will see the delivery of 132 one and two
bedroom apartments in two residential buildings, sitting over a 139
space undercroft car park.
The striking new buildings will be located at the heart of the
development, linking both the Moonlit Park and wildflower meadow to
the Sunset Park and providing a high quality paved walkway linking
all Park Central's residential quarters including the new
buildings: Liberty, Washington, Houston and Lincoln.
With Lower Parkside, the latest £15 million
residential phase of the development selling successfully, Crest
Nicholson is keen to maintain the momentum of the regeneration
process at Park Central through the delivery of this central phase.
Ian Rhodes, Development Director for Crest Nicholson
Regeneration commented: "We are very much looking forward to
working with the City Council and our development partners, Optima
Community Association, to deliver this focal point of the
scheme.
"This central phase of the development has been designed to
serve both the original and new Park Central community and we
intend to deliver high quality, contemporary homes of striking
character, building on the award-winning standards already set at
Park Central. The completed development will set a new standard in
the UK and firmly put Birmingham on the map for delivering a model
of successful urban regeneration."
The buildings are designed so that the majority of apartments
benefit from advantageous views across the parkland and the
significant amount of high quality landscaping on offer. In-keeping
with the existing green spaces, the central phase will boast a
combination of green roof planting and high-quality paved areas for
residents' use.
Working in partnership with Birmingham City Council and Optima
Community Association, Crest Nicholson has already transformed the
majority of the 61 acres of the former Lee Bank area of the city,
from a run-down estate into an integrated socially sustainable and
highly successful new city centre community, with over 1000 homes
already sold.
Simon Kimberley, chief executive of Optima Community
Association, says: "Already, Park Central has achieved what it
initially set out to do; providing well-maintained, contemporary
homes whilst creating a peaceful oasis within the city centre. This
latest planning consent will allow the development to continue
moving forward as an inspirational regeneration project."
Savills acted as planning consultants for the central phase of
Park Central.
