Customer service delivers award for Aston employee

A drive to deliver excellent customer service took Amanda Lowe on a 250 mile round-trip - and scooped her a prestigious company award.

Amanda, 40, Call Centre Manager at Parts Center, Aston, has received the bronze award in Wolseley UK's annual customer service competition, the Wow! Factor, which this year saw around 400 nominations from across the company.

She was nominated for recognition by areas sales manager Paul Kitching for her actions in delivering an urgently-needed part to a customer late on a Friday afternoon.

Amanda, who has worked for the company for 11 years, located the part in Coventry and drove from there to Oldham to deliver it, not getting back home to Birmingham until late that night.

Amanda, who was awarded with a cash prize, a trophy and a certificate, said: "I'm overwhelmed to win this award but it's not about being recognised or acknowledged personally.

"I truly believe in our motto - 'whatever it takes' - and I feel proud both for myself and for the team, and of the management who support me."
