On Tues 24 Jan Coventry's Belgrade Theatre is holding a creative
workshop that will use theatrical techniques to help businesses and
individuals develop key communication skills that can be easily
transferred into day to day business.
Delivered by the theatre's Creative Team, the practical workshop
will employ the same techniques as those used when working with a
company of actors to improve voice projection, presentation skills
and team work.
Amongst other things participants will learn techniques to help
with voice control and body language for meetings, business
presentations and other forms of public speaking and develop
communication skills required to build a rapport and engage
colleagues in a business environment.
During the workshop participants will have the opportunity to
practise their newly acquired skills using role play and scenario
based work that aims to stimulate creative thinking and to further
develop problem-solving skills.
Janthi Mills, General Manager at the Belgrade said, "As part of
their day to day job our Creative Team work with actors to ensure
that they can communicate effectively with an audience and it
became apparent that the exercises they use would also be very
effective in increasing people's confidence and communication at
work. Feedback received from previous participants tells us that
the experience has given them a real sense of achievement,
especially after they have stood and commanded the auditorium from
the theatre's stage. It is also a great opportunity to take staff
training outside the standard training room, which can at first be
daunting for participants. "
The workshop will be held on Tues 24 Jan from 10am to 12.30pm at
the Belgrade Theatre and may include presenting in either the Main
Stage or the B2 auditorium. Attendance is £125 +VAT per
person and this includes all course materials and tea and
coffee.
