All 29 remaining jobs at B C Barton & Son Limited have been
saved after Administrators from Baker Tilly were able to secure the
sale of the business.
Having fallen into administration in November 2011, Joint
Administrators Guy Mander and Graham Bushby from Baker Tilly's
Birmingham office continued to trade the business for eight weeks
whilst a buyer was found.
The sale was completed on 19th January 2012 for an undisclosed
sum to B C Barton Limited, a newly incorporated subsidiary of the
Dark Industrial Holdings group.
Commenting on the sale, Guy Mander said: "We are delighted to
have concluded the sale thereby guaranteeing the future of this
longstanding business and preserving 29 jobs. The outcome should be
excellent news for the local community."
He added: "B C Barton & Son Limited has had a reputation for
delivering quality service to its customers for over a century and
this was reflected by the level of interest shown in the business;
the sale provides the buyer with a platform to progress some of the
projects the Company had been looking at prior to its failure."
Mike Dell, of Dark Industrial Holdings and President of the
Black Country Chamber of Commerce, said: "We see BCB as a unique
business with a long-standing tradition and reputation, which will
complement our other group companies. It has a number of exciting
opportunities alongside its core products and we are looking
forward to returning the business to its past glory."
