Worcester Warriors rugby stars were on the ball when it came to
giving support to local fundraisers.
Employees from Shrub Hill based Pertemps People Development
Group (PPDG) were part of a team raising a grand total of
£3,050 for Macmillan Cancer Support through a series of
fundraising events.
The Warriors stars were told of how Worcester staff members
organized events including head shaves, leg shaves, sponsored
silence and human auctions.
"It is great to see a bunch of people putting their heart and
soul into projects that help others," said Warriors prop Oliver
Tomaszczyk.
The office workers efforts soon became fun rather than just
fundraising.
"It is a wonderful charity that is close to many people's heart
and everybody has been so supportive of our fund raising," said
PPDG advisor Carl Smythe.
"We have really enjoyed getting involved and it has brought a
few smiles to the office."
PPDG encourages staff to get involved with local fundraising and
is extremely proud of its extensive community support programme.
Donations from the fund recently surpassed the £150,000
milestone of giving back through payroll donations since its launch
in 2004.
Natalie Bridge, Fundraising Manager for Macmillan Cancer Support
insisted that the tireless efforts of the Worcester staff would
enable the charity to continue its excellent work in the area.
"We are delighted to hear that the team has raised in excess of
£3,000,"said the regional officer. "This amount of money will
keep a Macmillan information and support centre stocked with all
the information resources it needs to support people affected by
cancer for a whole year.
"Such resources provide a vital lifeline to cancer sufferers so
we would like to say a huge thank you to the girls and everyone
else who got involved in helping this year's Coffee Morning to be
bigger and better than ever."
