A family-run supermarket in Wolverhampton has donated £500
to Compton Hospice after taking part in a charity scheme to help
support local communities.
Brothers Sukhjit and Sukvinder Chima run Costcutter in Deans
Road, Eastfield, and raised the money by signing up to Making a
Difference Locally - a charity which helps independently-run
stores to give something back to the local communities who shop
with them.
The scheme is supported by various brands, and every time the
store sells specific products, they raise some more funds for their
chosen charity.
Sukhjit explained that he and his brother had chosen Compton
Hospice because its a charity which touches the lives of so many
people in Wolverhampton, including many his customers.
"Many people who shop here have been helped by Compton, or their
friends or relatives have, and the hospice does such good work.
"The money is all raised locally, so we wanted to put it back to
use in our community, so Compton was the obvious choice.
"The scheme is on-going, so we hope to add more and more to this
£500 in the coming months, with the help and support of our
customers," he added.
Simon Cater, community fundraiser at Compton Hospice, thanked
the brothers and their customers for their support.
"It's great to see schemes like Making a Difference Locally
helping to put money back into the communities who support their
local stores, and we are really grateful that Mr Chima and his
family chose to support us.
"This money can really help make a difference to people's lives,
and allowing Compton to continue to provide vital services."
