As Highcross welcomed its millionth shopper in December to the
centre on Saturday, it also saw three brand new retailers
strengthen its festive offer.
The North Face, which specialises in outdoors equipment and
clothing, RE59 - a female fashion brand - and Image Surgeons, which
offers personalised products and gifts, have all opened on the
centre's upper mall.
Jo Tallack, general manager at Highcross, said: "The North Face,
RE59 and Image Surgeons add to the diverse retail mix we have at
Highcross and we're delighted to welcome them to the centre just in
time for Christmas.
"This December we've seen more than one million Christmas
shoppers through the doors so far, with 150,000 of them braving the
cold this weekend alone.
Highcross continues to buck the national trend, with footfall
last week up almost 10 per cent compared to the previous week.
Sales remain strong and are up two per cent on last year. Footwear,
jewellery and toys are amongst the centre's best sellers; with
Build-a-Bear Workshop reporting that is has now sold more than
10,500 bears since it opened in September this year.
Ms Tallack continued: "It is encouraging to be able to welcome
new brands to the city during this key trading period. The success
of Build-a-Bear Workshop shows that there is an appetite amongst
shoppers for new stores and experiences."
