News that more engineering jobs will be created in Staffordshire
by JCB has added to the county's accolade as top spot for creating
employment nationally.
The leading construction equipment company - which has its world
headquarters at Rocester in Staffordshire - announced it is
creating over 300 jobs across its plants in the Midlands and
Wales.
An independent inward investment report for autumn revealed that
Staffordshire topped the national table for job creation. Major
announcements such as Jaguar Land Rover and Amazon locating in the
county were key factors.
Staffordshire County Council's economic growth and enterprise
leader Ben Adams said: "This week's JCB announcement is more great
news for Staffordshire. These will be high quality jobs at one of
our county's most established companies.
"Staffordshire is now leading the way nationally for job
creation. The county council has played a pivotal role in this;
developing the site where Amazon has chosen to locate and putting
together a robust bid which included an £18.5m investment for
a new motorway link. This is in addition to our support for small
businesses and inward investment work.
"Our key priority is Staffordshire's prosperity and we are proud
to be able to facilitate continued economic growth."
Recruitment is already underway for the £31m engine
development project, of which £4.5m will come from the
Government's Regional Growth Fund.
The Breeze Strategy inward investment report states that the
Amazon and Jaguar Land Rover projects are in the top five
nationally over the last four months for job creation.
