New era for prominent city centre property

High-profile premises in the centre of Nottingham centre are being given a new lease of life after being on the market for some months.

Number 49 Upper Parliament Street - which is opposite the city's Theatre Royal, close to The Cornerhouse and near to Nottingham Trent University - has been let by Lincoln-based Banks Long & Co to an undisclosed, but growing, company.

Banks Long surveyor Matthew Brooks said: "It is satisfying to have let this prestigious site, which was formerly home to O'Brien's sandwich bar, and which had been empty for about two years.

"We received a lot of interest from local takeaway operators but our Nottinghamshire-based private client is delighted it has been let on a long term basis to an established regional retailer, as part of its expansion plans.

"The tenant is already well underway with their refurbishment of the ground floor of the premises."

The upper part of the building has residential tenants.

The Upper Parliament Street unit was placed on the market with a yearly asking rental of  £37,500, excluding VAT and business rates.
