The UK arm of international accountancy firm Mazars has seen turnover rise seven per cent.

Mazars, which has offices in Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Nottingham, has reported a figure of £109.1 million for the year ended August 31, 2011 against £102.5 million for the equivalent period in 2010.

And, releasing its Transparency Report, it predicted further growth in the years ahead despite what it termed "a very challenging economic environment".

David Chapman, Midlands managing partner, said: "We always aim to attract and retain the best talent, so as to better serve our clients. During the last year we have continued to invest in talented people in order both to maintain the high standards that our clients are used to, and to continue to grow and develop our business.

"As a result, we have continued to win many new clients as we pursue our key strategies, and we expect to continue to deliver real growth in our business over the next few years.

"Both globally and also in the UK, Mazars is committed to serving our clients with a sense of purpose in order to make a real difference to their businesses, many of which are adjusting and adapting to the economic challenges that we all face."

During 2010/2011, the average number of Mazars LLP personnel in the UK amounted to 1,209 full time staff. As at August 31, there were 108 partners.

Mazars recently celebrated the first anniversary of amalgamating much of its West Midlands operation in premises at 45 Church Street, Birmingham.

Since then 37 new staff, including eight graduates have been taken on.

Recruitment was driven not only by the need to service new clients but also an increasing volume of work in specialist areas such as forensics, corporate finance and governance and internal risk control.

Arrivals have included leading corporate finance specialist Nick Johnson who led the corporate finance arm of Deloitte in the Midlands for several years.

Since moving into the centre of Birmingham, the firm has won new business from bluechip clients such as Pertemps and Aviva. The team works for an expanding list of international and quoted clients including Alstom UK, Manganese Bronze Holdings, Portmeirion Group PLC, Schneider Electric, GeoPost, Arval, Tata and Jaguar Land Rover in the Midlands.

Mazars is a leading global player specialising in audit, accounting, tax and advisory services, operating in 61 countries across the world with a team of 13,000 highly qualified professionals.
