An investment manager at Birmingham's leading private equity
provider LDC has completed both the Birmingham half marathon and
the New York marathon within a fortnight of each other, to raise
more than £5,000 for two worthy charities.
James Robinson ran the Birmingham half marathon in 1 hour and 19
minutes, followed by the New York marathon two weeks later in 2
hours and 43 minutes.
James' efforts form part of LDC's annual fundraising programme,
of which Birmingham Children's Hospital remains a key charitable
concern. LDC has donated more than £15,000 to the 'Children's
Heart Appeal' in 2011, with James raising a further £2,500 so
far through these marathons to assist the hospital in its quest to
build the first hybrid cardiac theatre for children in the UK.
James has also secured more than £2,500 of funds to date
for Brain Tumour UK, the leading charity that works to fight brain
tumours following the death of his close University friend to the
disease in 2007.
James Robinson, Investment Manager, LDC commented:
"Birmingham Children's Hospital and Brain Tumour UK are
extremely worthwhile charities that rely on donations to help
support the invaluable treatment that they each provide to patients
and their families. I have enjoyed the challenge of completing both
marathons in quick succession and would like to thank everyone who
has donated".
