The Stourbridge-based Western Region of Mansell has marked the
progress on a new Birmingham health centre with a special
topping-out ceremony and tour of the site.
Work on the £7.3 million construction of Attwood Green
Health Centre, commissioned by the Birmingham and Solihull Local
Improvement Finance Trust (BaS LIFT) on behalf Heart of Birmingham
Teaching Primary Care Trust, is well on schedule and Mansell
project leaders gave designers and healthcare representatives a
tour of the work to date. The health centre will include a
six-storey primary care and sexual health centre including two GP
practices, clinics, a dental surgery, a pharmacy, treatment rooms
and car parking.
The project is one of two Birmingham health and community centre
design and build contracts placed with Mansell, worth more than
£14 million in total.
The contracts have been placed by BaS LIFT and their private
sector partner Prime plc. As well as the Attwood Green centre,
Mansell is currently constructing a community and health centre and
new church in Sparkbrook.
The £7.3 million Sparkbrook construction project includes
a three storey community and health centre and a new church to
replace the Victorian built Christ Church. The new facilities
include GP and nurse facilities, clinics, dental services and a
pharmacy. The centre will also include a library, a Birmingham City
Council Customer Service Centre, a community centre, six start-up
offices and an enclosed garden.
Steve Davies, Mansell's Western Region managing director said
these contracts further reinforced Mansell's presence in the health
sector.
"Mansell has developed a strong track record and valuable
expertise in this kind of work, and we are delighted to be working
with BaS LIFT and Prime plc on another of their key health and
community developments," he said.
