launch of their new venture
Two local mums hope to have customers "doing the Funky Gecko"
along the High Street in Knowle.
The whacky name - inspired in part by a clothing label - has
been chosen by Sue Gaffey and Michelle Wood for their new
innovative children's organic boutique selling children's clothing,
toys, skincare products and gifts.
Funky Gecko has set up home in Number 2, Greville Court, High
Street, Knowle, with help from Jennie Patrick and Ruth Scott of the
real estate department of Lodders Solicitors in Stratford-upon-Avon
who arranged the lease of the unit.
The boutique carries a selection of British designed organic
cotton clothing, outdoor wear and other funky accessories. The
Organic skincare range and biodegradable nappies will appeal to all
mums who have concerns about the increasing number of children with
skin allergies and customers keen to protect the
environment.
Jennie said: "It is a brave decision to launch a new venture in
a difficult economic climate but they have done their homework and
I believe it has every chance of success.
"It is cleverly thought out because allergies are a problem in
the modern age and these are natural products suitable for all
children's skin types."
Sue and Michelle, who have children themselves said: "We are
trying to offer a fashionable alternative to the average retailer
by giving mums and children the choice of the latest original
British designs in the knowledge that they are also protecting our
environment."
