UPnP Forum, the leading global home networking standards group,
has appointed international multimedia PR consultancy Proactive
International PR Limited to boost its worldwide presence.
UK-based Proactive PR will look to propel UPnP Forum into the
spotlight, further positioning its already widely-acknowledged work
in the development of defacto standards for device-to-device
interoperability. Through an ongoing campaign, the PR consultancy
will help increase awareness of the organisation, which boasts
members such as Sony, Samsung, Nokia and Microsoft.
"The connected home is a hot topic and while UPnP Forum's work
is known within the industry, there is huge opportunity for us to
expand upon this," said Brian Dolby, the CEO and Founder of
Proactive PR. "UPnP Forum has been instrumental to enabling devices
to work coherently with each other and this is an exciting time for
us to be working with them."
To date over 900 devices, such as digital cameras and
televisions, have been certified as compliant with UPnP standards,
providing assurance to vendors and users that devices will
automatically and seamlessly interoperate in-home and other
networks.
Dr Alan Messer, UPnP Forum President and Chairman, adds: "As the
demand for UPnP technologies and certification grows, the UPNP
Forum felt that it was necessary to increase and grow our
communications strategy accordingly. With its expertise in the
technology sector and with other consortia, we believe that
Proactive PR is the most effective means to reach our audiences to
generate wider awareness of our capabilities."
UPnP Forum is the latest global membership-based technology
organization to appoint Proactive PR. The agency holds particular
expertise in this area and already represents the Broadband Forum,
Home Gateway Initiative and HomeGrid Forum.
Proactive PR represents the majority of its clients
internationally - often globally - and works across several
industries, although mainly focused around technology.
In addition to traditional PR services, Proactive is
particularly strong in video, where it offers a white-label service
used by a range of media outlets, companies and exhibition
organisers.
