After an 18 year career with the company, which began as a
telemarketer, Sharon Price has been appointed a board director of
Shire Leasing plc. Now, as a director with specific responsibility
for developing its customer sales function, she is the first female
on the company's board.
"Sharon has proved her worth to the business over many years and
has earned this promotion on the back of her strategic contribution
to our organisation," explained John Worton, the Group's Chairman.
"Over the past three years Sharon has increased Shire Leasing's
sales by 300% and, despite the current economic uncertainties the
pipeline is still extremely strong. We are delighted to welcome her
to the board and are looking forward to her greater contribution as
her passion and enthusiasm are felt across the business."
Unlike many financial and business services organisations, Shire
Business Group, parent company to Shire Leasing, has a number of
women in senior management positions. This is reflective of the
organisation's meritocratic philosophy and flexibility to ensure
talented individuals have the opportunity to contribute and so
shine.
Expressing her anticipation of her new role, Sharon said: "The
culture at Shire is that hard work and enterprise, from wherever in
the company, is recognised and rewarded. I have benefited from this
approach and after starting making sales appointments for others,
am delighted I am now able to directly influence sales success
across the whole business."
After joining in 1993 as a telemarketer making appointments for
the supplier sales team, Sharon quickly developed her own suppliers
and over time became one of the business's top sales people. Her
role developed and she quickly became the lead for all sales in the
organisation.
In her personal life Sharon is a netball enthusiast and spent
some time as a professional singer.
