Former builders yard provides extra space for growing workforce

A booming Worcester company that provides effective solutions to environmental problems has purchased a former builder's yard to accommodate its growing workforce.

Spectrum Environmental has seen rapid growth in sales and increased staff levels over recent times. Moving from its previous premises in Wylds Lane, Worcester, means the company now has more space for its three divisions: Air Spectrum, Waste Spectrum and Energy Spectrum.

Spectrum Environmental bought the former Spicers (Builders) Limited site on Checketts Lane Industrial Estate, Worcester, after the well-known local building firm went into liquidation.

The structures of the two-storey office building and three workshops will remain the same however their interiors will undergo a complete refurbishment to upgrade the office space, staff facilities and manufacturing floor areas.

Steve Hunt, group managing director of Spectrum Environmental, said: "The company has always been based in Worcester, so we are pleased to have found a larger property in the area that has more space for the three divisions. The main building on the site will allow us to work across two floors of offices, which suits our requirements going forward.

Rob Champion, partner of Halls Commercial, said: "We are delighted that this vacant industrial site has been purchased by a local manufacturing company that will use the space to its full potential. Spectrum Environmental is a well-established Worcester business and it is fantastic that they have chosen to remain here, thereby retaining employment locally and showing the rest of the country that Worcester is a good place to run a successful, growing business.

"The sale is a positive sign for the commercial property market and demonstrates that there are local businesses who continue to prosper in spite of the continuing depression in the global economy."

Spectrum Environmental was founded in 1994 by husband and wife team Steve Hunt and Elizabeth Hunt, group director, and employs 35 people. For more information, visit www.spectrumenvironmental.eu.
