A Christmas Fair held at an allotment in Great Barr, Birmingham
has raised £1,012 for a sensory garden planned for the
site.
Over 500 people visited the allotment on Beeches Road where
festive food, drinks and trinkets, including pickles, jams,
chutneys and cakes made by the allotment holders, were on
sale.
200 presents donated by a local businessman were given away at a
Santa's Grotto whilst a raffle and tombola also helped to raise
funds at the Fair, one of a number of fundraising events which take
place at the allotment throughout the year.
The Fair was organised by Joanne Spencer, Secretary at the
Birmingham office of real estate advisers DTZ, to raise money for a
sensory garden at the site which will be used by local schools and
other community groups. DTZ will be contributing to the total funds
raised as part of its charity matching initiative.
Joanne Spencer said: "A big thank you to everyone who
contributed to the Christmas Fair. The funds raised help go towards
a fantastic project which, once complete, will be utilised by the
whole community."
