In a year when recession seems to have been the word on most
people's lips, local auctioneers Savills ended its last auction of
the year with an excellent success rate of 80%.
Rob Crocker, director at Savills Nottingham comments: "With
Christmas just around the corner, it was pleasing to witness some
sellers enjoying a little festive cheer."
A crowded room witnessed keen bidding on a number of lots with
the former sub-depot sold on behalf of Nottinghamshire County
Council selling for £43,000 in the room from a guide price of
£10,000 - £15,000.
There was interest from outside the area for the former Ryton
Park Primary School in Worksop which eventually sold for
£250,000 in the room. The sale included a number of diverse
lots in and around the county, which included two properties
offered on behalf of the city council within the Arboretum area of
Nottingham.
Both divided to create self-contained one bedroomed flats, the
properties on Burns Street number 39 and 45 sold for £136,000
and £171,000 respectively, the first selling on the
phone to an overseas buyer in Germany.
Bob Crocker Director of Savills commented "as the year draws to
a close, we continue to see keen interest in the auction process
for both disposal and acquisition, with seven sales already planned
for 2012 and a number of lots already entered, it is hoped that the
Christmas cheer will be continued through into the New Year."
