A student of Civil & Structural Engineering at Coventry
University has been selected to receive a cash prize of £1000
from robemakers Ede and Ravenscroft in recognition of the academic
excellence he has demonstrated in his studies.
David Renard, who is 25 and from Long Lawford in Rugby, was
nominated for the award by one of his academic tutors for his
outstanding results throughout his course.
David is sponsored for the degree by his employer, Morgan
Sindall, and chose the course at Coventry for its excellent
reputation and the flexibility it offers him in being able to fit
his full-time work commitments around his studies.
On hearing that he had been selected as the winner of the award,
David said:
"I genuinely appreciate being gifted with this award. It is very
motivating for the future to know that working hard to achieve the
best you can does not always go unnoticed. I think I owe much of my
academic success to my fiancée Charmaine who is very
supportive. I'll be using the money to help pay for our wedding
next year.
"One of the best things about Coventry University is the
extremely knowledgeable lecturers - you can be confident that you
are learning from some of the best people possible. Also, the
laboratories are full of useful and well-maintained equipment which
brings an interesting practical side to the course."
The Ede and Ravenscroft Prize is awarded for overall academic
excellence displayed by a successful student who is not in the
final year of a course of study. The recipient is chosen by the
University's Prizes Panel.
