An extra Carol Service for the Business Community has had to be
arranged this year - after people found themselves queueing outside
Birmingham Cathedral last December.
Organisers, ChaplaincyPlus, is for the first time hosting two
Carol Services for the Business Community: A handy after-work event
on Tuesday 13 December at 5.45pm, as well as the usual lunchtime
service on Wednesday 14 December at 1.05pm
One person was heard to comment last year: 'seeing people
queuing up to attend was amazing' and as Chris Dinsdale said: "How
many times do you see queues outside a church? Well, hopefully this
year you will not, as ChaplaincyPlus is for the first time hosting
two Carol Services for the Business Community.
"People love singing carols so do join us next Tuesday evening
or Wednesday lunchtime and stay for mince pies and mulled mora
after the service. As you drink the Mora, you will be helping
Colombian farmers by enjoying the fruit they grow: so that they can
provide for their families without the need to grow cocaine."
Last year around 800 members of the Birmingham business
community packed into Birmingham Cathedral in Colmore Row for the
lunchtime carol service that was in its 7th year. This 8th year
sees the introduction of this evening service straight after work,
5.45pm, on Tuesday 13 December.
Both services are identical and last around 45 minutes, with
well-known carols accompanied by organ and trumpet. The talk this
year will be given by author and speaker Nick Cuthbert and all the
collection will given to two local charities Betel of Britain and
The Karis Neighbourhood Scheme.
