A new UKTI initiative to help private businesses across
Britain boost their export sales or enter export markets for the
first time is coming to the Midlands in the New Year. A series of
events will provide advice and expertise to help private businesses
play their part in reversing the decline in the UK's share of
global exports over the last decade from 5.3% in 2000 to 4.1% in
2010.
The National Export Challenge events, which are supported by PwC
and HSBC, will give private businesses a chance to hear directly
from the Trade and Investment Minister, Lord Green, about how
important export activity is to the economic future of the UK. He
will also explain what the UKTI and Government are doing to support
private businesses as they seek to achieve growth by reaching into
export markets.
Private businesses in the Midlands are also being encouraged to
enter the national 'Exporting for Growth' competition. A prize will
be awarded to each regional business to submit the best exporting
idea and the deadline for entries is 12th January 2012. The
Midlands' winner will receive practical advice from PwC to help to
make their exporting aims a reality. To find out more about the
competition or to enter, please visit
