Birmingham's Katie Woodcock has found the route to success after
landing the top prize at a business awards night held in the
city.
The 29-year-old, an administrator at National Express, was named
Katie Bard recruitment's Temp of the Year 2011 at the presentation
ceremony which was held at Bar Epernay in The Mailbox.
Katie was nominated after impressing bosses at National Express
in Digbeth where she was placed by Katie Bard - a leading
recruitment agency in Waterloo Street and part of the Angela
Mortimer Group.
She was originally only expecting to stay at the coach operator
for a few weeks in July - but made such an impression she was kept
on board with the company extending her stay until at least the end
of January.
Katie said: "It was a really big surprise to win the award," she
said, "Initially I only thought I was going to be at National
Express for a couple of weeks covering someone on sick leave, but I
settled in well and got on with everyone straight away.
"I kept being asked to stay, which I was more than happy to do
as it is a really great company to work for and extremely
rewarding.
"I've now been with the company for around six months and
there's a chance I could stay on longer and maybe branch out into
another department which would be great."
And the Hodge Hill resident said she owes a lot to the
consultants who placed her in the role for understanding her
ability and ambition.
"Sophie Burn at Katie Bard put me up for the position and
understood exactly what skills I have and the type of role I was
after," she added.
"Once I started there was a lot to learn and take in, and the
support system from the team at National Express as well as Sophie
and everyone at Katie Bard has been tremendous."
Sophie, team leader at Katie Bard, said Katie was an outstanding
candidate and a deserved winner of the top prize.
"Katie joined National Express during a very busy time for the
company and made an instant impression on everyone, just as she did
when she first walked through the doors at Katie Bard," she
said.
"She is an outstanding candidate with a great personality so it
was no surprise to everyone that she was asked to extend her
stay.
"Everyone at Katie Bard would like to congratulate Katie on
being named our Temp of the Year - she is a worthy winner who we
wish all the best for the future."
Other winners on the night included candidates at Mitchell &
Butlers (team of the year), Aradhana Mehmi (admin support), Josi
Allan (graduate of the year) and Felicity Hodges (specialist role
award).
