Owners of a unique boot camp concept in Staffordshire are
looking for the area's next Banksy to come forward and create
outstanding graffiti artwork on the walls of their premises.
The owners of BC One are looking for a talented graffiti artist
to showcase their creativity on walls of an 8,000 square foot
warehouse at the former Bristols and Round building, Walford Works,
in Longford Road, Cannock, where the boot camp will be based.
BC One is a unique concept for the West Midlands bringing
fitness training back to basics.
BC One will include an indoor assault course and will host
functional workout classes which will combine CrossFit, circuit
training, rope climbing, gymnastic rings, kettlebells and much
more.
The boot camp is set to be officially launched in January by
owners Ian Stanley and his sister-in-law Sarah Stanley.
The assault course is currently being put in place in readiness
for the opening but a graffiti artist is now being sought to give
the boot camp a trendy urban feel.
Ian, aged 40, from Great Wyrley, said: "This is a real
opportunity for talented local graffiti artists to win a really
great commission. It would be brilliant to unearth the next Banksy
who became famous through his fantastic street graffiti works of
art.
"We want them to come and see us and see what ideas they have.
They can be as creative as they want to be keeping to an urban
theme.
"It really is a great opportunity because if the concept takes
off we may be looking to open BC One franchises in other parts of
the country.
"We have a huge 8,000 square foot warehouse so there is scope
for an artist to really get their teeth stuck into it and come up
with some really original and creative ideas based around our
blueprint branding. If there is the next Banksy out there then we
want them to come and get involved and show us what they can
do."
As well as being a fitness facility for members of the public BC
One could also become a training centre for police officers and
firefighters when it launches in January.
Cannock Chase Council is also in talks with bosses of the
company to provide a base for a mini Olympics style community games
event next year.
The £40,000 facilities will include an assault course
based around the perimeter of the warehouse which will include rope
climbs, tyres, beams and cargo nets.
Group fitness classes will run throughout the day and will
involve up to 40 people in the session per time. Membership will be
£20 off-peak which includes mornings after 9.00am weekdays
and weekends and £35 full peak which provides unlimited
access. There will also be a pay as you go option where non-members
can book classes at £5 per session.
