money will be spent on caring for patients and families
Solicitors who generously donated their Will-writing fees in
September have raised over £10,000 for St Richard's
Hospice.
The participating solicitors around the county were taking part
in the annual St Richard's Hospice Write a Will scheme.
Rachel Jones, St Richard's Corporate Partnerships and Events
Fundraiser said, "We are very grateful to everyone who took part in
Write a Will month, and to all the participating solicitors who
gave their time for free to help the hospice. It's a great
way for the profession locally to support St Richard's."
In the previous five years the scheme has raised around
£34,000 in fees which the hospice has been able to spend on
its work caring for patients and their families.
Participating solicitors were Evans + Webb, Malvern; Harrison
Clark in Worcester & Cheltenham; MFG Solicitors, Worcester;
Parkinson Wright
Droitwich Spa, Evesham and Worcester; QualitySolicitorsThomson
& Bancks in Pershore; Stallard, March and Edwards, Worcester;
Thursfields, Worcester, Kidderminster and Stourport on Severn.
St Richard's Hospice provides free specialist palliative care
for patients living with cancer and other life-threatening
illnesses and supports their families. Each year the hospice team
supports over 2,200 patients and family members in
Worcestershire.
Patients are cared for in Day Hospice, the 16-bed In-patient
Unit or in their own homes by a specialist professional team as
well as many trained volunteers.
In the In-patient Unit specialist staff are on hand 24 hours a
day to manage patients' symptoms and where, if they so choose,
patients may spend the last few days of life in comfort and
dignity. St Richard's is grateful for all donations towards the
£5.4m they need to raise this year to continue their
work.
