Willmott Dixon Partnerships in Birmingham is backing the Lord
Mayor's charity of the year with a donation of £1,000 to the
Royal British Legion.
The company that repairs and maintains 60,000 properties in the
city for the council made the donation to the charity's annual
Poppy Appeal.
Since 1921 the nation has expressed its support for The Royal
British Legion's work caring for ex-service people through the
Poppy Appeal and this year it's the charity of the year for The
Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Councillor Anita Ward.
Just like last year, Willmott Dixon's employees have also shown
their respect for Remembrance Day this Friday by fitting large
poppies to the company's 250 fleet of vans working in the city.
Les Shortman, manager at one of Willmott Dixon's two branches in
College Road and Partons Road, said, "Our local branches have
donated to the Poppy Appeal with our client, Birmingham City
Council, for the past couple of years and we are very pleased that
we have been able to show our support for the charity once more. We
hope that people will see our vans and their poppies out and about
in the city and be reminded to show their support for The Royal
British Legion too."
