Weston Park has invited three local artists to capture scenes at
the stately home to celebrate its 25th anniversary as a charitable
trust.
The works of art will commemorate the achievements of the Weston
Park Foundation and will be exhibited in its Granary Art Gallery
throughout December.
The stately home was gifted to the nation in 1986 by the present
and 7th Earl of Bradford. With support from the National Heritage
Memorial Fund (NHMF) the Weston Park Foundation charitable trust
was formed to conserve and maintain the House, Park, Gardens and
its historical collections for the nation.
The selling exhibition, featuring watercolours, oil paintings
and drawings, will providing a pictorial representation of the
Foundation's triumphs within the House and Park as well as
portraits of the individuals that form the estate team.
Rob Pointon, regional winner of the Art Gallery's recent Open
Competition, in his work reveals the energy surrounding the V
Festival held annually at Weston Park and captures both interior
and exterior scenes of the House using intense colours and widening
perspectives to create an illusion of space.
Chris Clements' work uses oils, pencil and charcoal to
illustrate 'Weston at work' focusing on specific team members in
situ, such as the chefs, gardeners and the House brigade team
preparing for events.
Ivan Taylor, who has specialised in watercolours and oils for
the past 20 years, captures the beauty of the Park, Gardens and the
vistas they provide in his pieces.
Colin Sweeney, Chief Executive of the Weston Park Foundation,
said: "The exhibition will be made up of a variety of different
works of art which will reveal the essence of the Foundation's work
over the last 25 years.
"We are not only delighted to be working with such talented
artists but very proud of Weston Park's successes and look forward
to the next 25 years."
The selling exhibition will be displayed throughout December at
the Granary Art Gallery and entry is free.
