National law firm Weightmans has finished in 8th position in
this year's Black Solicitors Network League annual survey of UK law
firms launched in London on 14 November.
The annual report, compiled and published by the Black
Solicitors Network, looks at law firms' efforts to address gender,
ethnicity and disability challenges by analysing the background of
all associates, partners, paralegals and trainees.
The results are analysed and firms are scored in a series of
categories - the total of which secures their overall ranking.
Weightmans scored an overall diversity quotient of 759 out of a
possible 1000 points in five areas of diversity policy and
practice.
The firm was placed in 3rd position amongst the top 100 UK law
firms in surveys measuring gender and ethnicity. The report made
special mention of Weightmans maintaining a top 10 position for the
third year running.
Weightmans' Senior Partner Ian Evans attended the survey launch
and awards ceremony. He said:
"I am very proud to see the firm being recognised for its policy
towards diversity and to be placed amongst some very significant
firms. We try our best to apply fairness to every aspect of running
our business and do not pay lip service to equality and
diversity.
"We support and applaud the Black Solicitors Network in
publishing this information which can only lead to greater
transparency and mobility within the legal profession".
Weightmans' recognition from the BSN tops off a year of great
recognition so far, as they celebrate rankings in the new edition
of independent legal directory Chambers UK naming them 'extremely
client-centric'.
