Grindleford's prime hotel, The Maynard is now providing guests with a Soup and a Sandwich Lunch to enjoy for just £5. Available Sunday to Friday, the lunch is just a small taster of what the restaurant at The Maynard has to offer, with great food cooked fresh every day.

A Soup and Sandwich Lunch is the perfect meal to have as the winter weather kicks in. The food is prepared by head chef Ben Hickinson and his well trained team. A local lad, Ben has a keen eye for fresh food and good hearty grub - and with an impressive culinary CV, he knows how to cook up the perfect dish, no matter the occasion.

The Soup and a Sandwich voucher will entitle the holder to enjoy the meal for just £5 in the comfort of The Maynard's bar. Having worked for The Maynard for six years, Ben Hickinson has worked his way up from senior chef de partie, through to sous chef and finally in 2007, to head chef. It is this sheer determination to drive himself forward which has helped The Maynard to earn its 2 AA Rosettes and provide all who visit with outstanding flavour.

"Spending hours in our traditional farmhouse kitchen with my mother when I was younger really inspired me to become a chef, and I have been working hard to improve my skills ever since" says head chef Ben Hickinson. "I learnt the importance of using fresh, local ingredients in my food and this is a method I have carried on using throughout my career. All the food prepared at The Maynard is fresh and locally sourced to ensure our diners receive the best possible food."

The Maynard is a historic building which takes its heritage from the Victorian era and still shows the traditional, old fashioned architecture on the exterior. Having recently gone through a refurbishment, the interior of the hotel now has a more modern and boutique feel; allowing the Soup and Sandwich offer to be even more enjoyable.
