An outline planning application has been submitted for the
£120m redevelopment of a 66 acre site in Dudley into a
landmark self-sufficient employment destination.
The Coseley Eco Park masterplan by Skelton Group Investments
includes up to 400,000 sqft of state-of-the-art commercial space, a
new food store, wholesale retail warehouse, 200 homes, a recycling
centre and on-site renewable electricity generation.
The masterplan would create at least 1,000 much-needed new jobs
and a further 300 construction jobs.
Coseley Eco Park's green credentials include the on-site
generation of 12MW of low-carbon electricity and a district heating
system that will deliver low-carbon heat to homes and businesses.
The overall scheme will save up to 4,574 tonnes of CO2 emissions
per year, equivalent to taking over 1,986 cars off the road as well
as providing some 2.75 hectares of public open space.
Graham Willson, director of Skelton Group Investments, said:
"This is a truly sustainable, landmark set of proposals for the
West Midlands. The scheme has been backed by the local community,
who are asking us for the new jobs, new homes and new investment
that will put the area back on the map. Submitting our outline
plans to the Council is a significant step towards creating a focus
at Coseley Eco Park for sustainability conscious businesses."
There have already been a number of initial enquiries from both
local and international businesses interested in relocating to the
park should consent be granted.
Dudley Council's planning committee is expected to determine the
outline planning application early in 2012.
Subject to planning, works could start on site in early
2013.
