A print and design company celebrated the start of an exciting
new era by producing a cancer charity's 2012 calendar, helping it
to raise vital funds for families hit by the disease.
Printing.com franchise Centrepoint Print, based in Erdington,
recently joined forces with design agency Rhubarb & Custard in
a move that has strengthened their business and expanded the range
of services offered to customers.
Director Dave Seickell and studio manager Alex Smallwood
designed and printed the 14-month 'Inspirational Sutton' calendar,
which comprises a collection of 14 stunning photographs of Sutton
Park and other landmark landscapes in Sutton Coldfield.
Clients and volunteers of the Cancer Support Centre in Sutton
Coldfield, which provides support and therapies for cancer patients
and their families, supplied the images including the park's many
lakes and woodland scenes. The project was co-ordinated by charity
fundraiser Ann McKeown with support from Dave and Alex.
Dave said: "This was one of the first projects for our newly
merged companies and we were delighted to be able to support the
charity as cancer is a condition that is close to so many people's
hearts. We've printed 1,000 copies of the calendar, which we hope
will raise in excess of £5,000 for the centre."
The Cancer Support Centre, in Lindridge Road, aims to provide a
sanctuary for people affected by cancer, including their families
and close friends. The charity offers information, support groups
and therapies, many of which are free of charge. Each client is
given a treatment plan of 12 sessions and can also attend yoga
classes, walking groups and craft afternoons that are organised by
the centre.
Ann said: "The charity is very grateful to Dave, Alex and the
team for putting together the calendar. We are requesting a
donation of £5 per calendar which, if we reach our target of
£5,000, could provide a treatment plan for six people or fund
one of our support groups for the next 18 months."
Pat Brighton, fundraising trustee for the centre, said: "We are
a self-funded charity that is run mainly by volunteers. It costs
around £2,000 a week to run the centre and its therapies and
we are currently welcoming an average of 10 new clients every
month, so we need the funds to be able to continue our
support."
Copies of the calendar can be obtained by visiting the Cancer
Support Centre in Lindridge Road, Sutton Coldfield, calling the
team on 0300 012 0245 or emailing info@suttoncancersupport.co.uk.
The calendar is also sold in various shops around Sutton. Visit the
charity's facebook page - www.facebook.com/cancersupportcentre - to
