Peter Jensen, a former member of the SmithKline Beecham
Executive Board, has been appointed Chairman of Nottingham
Racecourse by the course's owner, The Jockey Club.
The news follows the retirement of Tony Osborne whose last
racing fixture at the racecourse was the closing meeting of the
season earlier this month.
Mr Jensen arrives at Colwick Park from sister-track, Newmarket
Racecourses, where he has been a board member for ten years.
Nicholas Wrigley, Senior Steward of The Jockey Club, said: "I
would like to thank Tony Osborne for his wonderful contribution to
Nottingham and the wider Jockey Club Racecourses group and should
also like to wish Peter Jensen all the very best in his new
role."
Peter Jensen said: "I feel most privileged to have been
appointed as Chairman of Nottingham Racecourse. I am very much
looking forward to working with Managing Director Pip Kirkby, Clerk
of the Course Sulekha Varma and their dedicated team as we plan for
the 2012 Flat racing season."
Outgoing Chairman Tony Osborne said: "It has been an honour to
act as Chairman Nottingham Racecourse for the last seven years.
Benefiting from being part of The Jockey Club, the racecourse has
taken many strides forward in this time and I'm sure it will be in
excellent hands with Peter as Chairman."
