Friction welding machine maker Thompson has appointed a new
multi-lingual sales manager for South America as part of plans to
expand its presence in the booming region.
Patxi Blanco, who speaks 7 languages, will also be responsible
for sales in Central America and Southern Europe.
Patxi, who holds a degree in international marketing, has
extensive experience in the machine tool industry and was
previously an agent for Thompson equipment in Spain.
He will be marketing Thompson's extensive range of rotary
friction welding machines to component makers in the automotive,
construction machine and mineral exploration industries.
Thompson's global sales manager, Nick Edge, said the appointment
of a dedicated sales manager was the latest stage in the company's
plans to win more new business in rapidly developing countries such
as Brazil.
The Halesowen-based manufacturer has already secured a
substantial number of new machine orders from customers in the
Americas this year. The equipment will be used to join a wide
variety of parts used in trucks and construction machines as well
as exploration drill rods and pipes.
