Coventry University's Faculty of Health and Life Sciences is set
to launch a new applied research centre next week to promote the
study of children and family health and well-being.
The Centre for Children and Families Applied Research (CCFAR) -
the first of its kind in the West Midlands - will be launched on
Monday 28th November and builds on the strong reputation the
Faculty has earned for its research work around babies, children,
young people and families.
Run under the directorship of Professor Jane Coad, who last year
led a successful bid for £1 million of funding for young
people's palliative care projects in the West Midlands, the CCFAR
integrates a programme of applied research, education and
leadership through a range of methods including e-learning and
other technological approaches.
The overall aim of the CCFAR is to help academics and
professionals explore issues surrounding the health and wellbeing
of children, young people and family, and in so doing influence
policy development in the field of social care.
The launch event for CCFAR will take place in the Alan Berry
Building on Coventry University's campus between 1pm-4pm and will
feature presentations by and a Q&A panel session with Professor
Jane Coad and co-directors Natalie Mills and Maureen Brown.
Jane Coad, Professor in Children and Family Nursing at Coventry
University and director of the CCFAR, said:
"The new Centre for Children and Families Applied Research will
help us develop a much clearer understanding of the health and
wellbeing of children, young people and families.
"Our mission is to play a significant role in improving their
lives through a collaborative programme of research and learning
across a range of disciplines."
