Operative Performance award
A forklift truck driver from housebuilder Miller Homes East
Midlands is celebrating after winning a regional award for the
fifth time.
Simon Wilson, who has been with Miller Homes East Midlands for
10 years, picked up the Operative Performance award after his work
on the Deansleigh development in Lincoln was praised by the
regional director for the National House Building Council (NHBC).
He was presented with the bi-annual, in-house award at a special
ceremony attended by colleagues and senior members of the Miller
Homes East Midlands team.
The award is designed to acknowledge employees who go above and
beyond their normal site duties and is judged on various
categories, including good fork truck maintenance, resulting in
minimal maintenance costs, a standard which is also recognised by
UK Forks who supply Miller Homes with its machines.
Also high on the judging criteria is site presentation, which
Simon has excelled in with his compound being seen as the best in
the region. Simon has also been praised for understanding his
duties towards health and safety by supporting his site manager in
providing a safe environment for the workforce.
Commenting on Simon's award, Malcolm Ceney, production director
for Miller Homes East Midlands, said:
"This is the fifth time that Simon has won this award and the
standards he has set on this particular site have raised the bar
significantly. What he has done has not only impressed the
directors at Miller Homes but also the regional director of the
NHBC, Richard Hartshorn.
"This was a very tough decision to make as all of our site
operatives work extremely hard to produce the high level of
properties that Miller Homes is renowned for.
"We encourage pride in the job, so we are really pleased that
Simon's hard work, dedication and commitment have been rewarded.
Simon should be seen as an excellent example to others in the
industry.
