Need
Managers at a Coventry housing association faced their worst
fears as they tucked into a 'bush tucker trial' to raise
£1000, including Gift Aid, for Children in Need.
Staff at Whitefriars Housing made donations against 12 managers
to say who they wanted to see face the bush tucker trial on Friday,
November 18.
Fish guts and eyes, maggots and dog food were amongst some of
the tasty delights the managers had to face at Whitefriars'
Torrington Avenue office.
Twelve members of the management team faced the first round of
the trial. According to how much money staff had put by the
different managers, they were whittled down over three rounds of
the trial. The manager with the most money pledged next to their
name faced the final and most stomach-churning challenge.
Bernie Kelly was the person that staff donated the most money to
see eat the ultimate tucker of fish eye and guts soup, raising
£157.
Bernie, area service manager, said: "It was possibly the worst
thing I have faced. Nothing can prepare you for tasting those
things and I don't want to do it again in a rush.
"Everyone has entered into the spirit of the fundraising and
staff have been very generous. Albeit so they can see members of
the management tuck into some not so nice delicacies."
