International Green Awards™ 2011.
Working Strategy Ltd, based in Raunds, helped develop and
deliver a project for The Carbon Trust on behalf of their client,
Sysdoc, which has been nominated for the Best Green Government
Award. The project is one of five nominees from around the world
and the winners will be announced at a 'Green Gala' ceremony at the
Natural History Museum, London on 24 November. The International
Green Awards recognise creativity and a proactive approach to
sustainability, awarding organisations that have demonstrated true
innovation and implemented real systemic change.
Lance Jones, Managing Consultant at Working Strategy, headed the
team that delivered the Carbon Trust Aggregates Carbon Reduction
Project. By working with businesses in the quarrying and asphalt
manufacturing sectors, Working Strategy increased energy awareness
amongst employees to identify opportunities for reducing carbon
emissions and energy costs throughout the businesses. They then
evaluated and implemented these opportunities, before tracking and
measuring them to develop an effective energy management strategy.
The project started with some of the biggest firms in the
aggregates industry and was rolled out to medium sized companies,
and then to smaller companies via online resources.
Lance Jones commented: "We are delighted with the success of the
project. Using our change management methods we engaged employees
throughout the organisations and achieved significant energy and
cost reductions. In some cases, payback on investment has been in
less than 12 months."
