Wolverhampton-based social enterprise Lewis Psychology, a
Community Interest Company (CIC), has been presented with a Morgan
Foundation Entrepreneur Award 2011. Lewis Psychology was a runner
up in the 'Business Providing the Best Social or Economic
Contribution to the Region' category, receiving a crystal award, a
cash prize and a package of business development services.
The Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner, hosted by Steve Morgan OBE,
Chairman of the Morgan Foundation and owner of Wolverhampton
Wanderers FC, was a glittering affair. The winners were announced
in front of an audience of nearly 300 guests, including all
finalists, sponsors and supporters.
Teresa and Paul Lewis, the founders and directors of Lewis
Psychology CIC, were delighted with their win. Paul Lewis said:
"All our profits are used to expand services and generate much
needed jobs for local people. We are absolutely committed to
helping our local communities thrive and prosper. To be presented
with an ethical business award for our work is a huge honour."
The couple launched their enterprise two years ago with the aim
of providing professional and accessible counselling, coaching and
training services to individuals and organisations around the West
Midlands and Staffordshire. They wanted their work to benefit
the wider community with a clear assurance of
not-for-personal-profit distribution status. The business has gone
from strength to strength, growing faster than they had
anticipated, and was recently awarded Service Accreditation status
with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy
(BACP), which is considered to be the highest honour in the
field.
