John Pye & Sons, owner occupiers of one of the UK's biggest
independent commercial auction houses based in Nottingham, are
strengthening their foothold in the secondary market by overseeing
vehicle auction disposals in partnership with Capita Group Plc.
Capita, under the trading name VEAS, began operating a national
wheel clamping and removal service for the DVLA on 7 November
2011.
John Pye & Sons worked in partnership with Capita to bid for
the VED and CIE contract which was awarded to Capita on 20 June
2011. As part of the process, John Pye & Sons utilised a
consortium of UK commercial auction houses called the Nationwide
Disposals Agency (NDA), which John Pye & Sons co-founded and
manage from their Nottingham Head Office.
In addition to using the Nottingham based site, John Pye &
Sons have seven new auction sites opening across the UK including
Bristol, Peterborough, Sheffield and London. A primary London
auction facility on the Park Royal London trading estate will open
in November 2011.
Speaking of the partnership, Adam Pye, managing director at John
Pye & Sons and NDA commented: "We are delighted to be working
in partnership with Capita to help them fulfill their contract. By
opening up new auction sites across the country we will be able to
branch out our expertise in auctions nationally. It will also give
us the opportunity to replicate our business model in Nottingham
across the country. The new London Park Royal auction house will
not only auction vehicles, we will also house a wide portfolio of
stock such as electrical items, home ware, plant, machinery and
general liquidation and bankruptcy goods."
John Carew, operations director at VEAS added: "John Pye &
Sons has considerable experience in the disposals market through
its consortium, the Nationwide Disposals Agency. This has allowed
us to provide a high quality national service to dispose of
unclaimed vehicles that have been seized for vehicle tax and
insurance evasion. We look forward to a long and strong partnership
with them."
John Pye & Sons currently employs 54 full time staff from
its Nottingham Headquarters and offices across the UK. This
headcount is set to increase to more than 70 as more staff are
recruited to assist with the company's growing disposals portfolio.
In the last five years John Pye & Sons has trebled its staff
headcount. John Pye & Sons are engaged in other disposals
tenders with a bid pipeline value of a further
£30m.
