An army style boot camp complete with indoor assault course is
set to be launched in Cannock with the creation of 10 new jobs.
BC One is a unique concept for the West Midlands bringing
fitness training back to basics.
It will be based at a disused Cannock factory - the former
Bristols and Round building, at Walford Works, in Longford
Road.
As well as being a fitness facility for members of the public BC
One could also become a training centre for police officers and
firefighters.
Cannock Chase Council is also in talks with bosses of the
company to provide a base for a mini Olympics style community games
event next year.
BC One will be officially launched to the paying public at the
start of January but will be hosting a preview event on Sunday
(November 20) between 10am and 11.30am followed by taster sessions
throughout December.
BC One has been set up by personal fitness trainer Ian Stanley
and his sister-in-law Sarah Stanley.
The £40,000 facilities will include an assault course
based around the perimeter of the 8,000 square foot warehouse which
will include rope climbs, tyres, beams and cargo nets.
There will be a number of functional workout classes hosted at
BC One which will combine elements of CrossFit, circuit training,
rope climbing, gymnastic rings, kettlebells and much more.
The group fitness classes will be run throughout the day and
will involve up to 30 people in the session per time.
Ian, aged 40, from Great Wyrley, who has been a personal trainer
for over 10 years, said the concept was unique for the
area.
He said: "We have been working on this venture for the last two
years and we have finally got the required planning permission and
licenses in place.
"We are basically going back to basics when it comes to fitness
training. BC One won't boast any fancy equipment but what I will
guarantee is fitness results for any standard, from beginner to
professional athlete and from teenager to pensioners. We will cater
for all ages and abilities. We are unique to the West Midlands as
the assault course and facilities are indoors.
"At the moment we are in talks with the police and the fire
service who are looking to use our facilities as a training centre
for its officers to maintain their fitness. It could also be hired
out for businesses for team bonding sessions.
"We are also in talks with Cannock Chase Council over plans to
use the facility for a community games event next year to tie in
with the Olympics. Everyone associated with BC One is so excited
about its potential. We are hosting a preview taster event on
Sunday (November 20) and we are urging people to come along and see
what we will be offering. The session will also include a workout
as an option."
Sarah, from Cannock, who is manager at BC One, has 15 years of
experience in front of house in the leisure and hotel industry.
She added: "We are so excited about BC One and believe it will
prove to be a great success.
"We think it will be a real community focal point. It is also a
boost for the local economy as it will initially create 10 jobs
with the potential of more jobs to be created in the future."
Membership will be £20 per month for off-peak which
includes eight sessions and £35 full peak to include 16
sessions.
There is also a pay as you go option where non-members can book
classes at £5 per session.
People who are interested in joining BC One or who want more
