Acorns Children's Hospice has received a generous donation of
£8,000 from Jaguar to help support their work with brothers
and sisters of Acorns children.
The pledge from Jaguar will support Acorns for the long term in
providing quality care for local limited life and life threatened
children and their families.
Jaguar supported the Acorns Sibling Programme from 2001 until
2007 with around £43,000, allowing it to launch and become
then develop into a successful initiative. They are now rekindling
their relationship with the charity and the Programme by providing
£8,000 to fund all activities throughout the year.
The majority of the activities include group work. For example,
Acorns organises the BASIL magazine group, where siblings can take
on specific roles, such as editor, photographer or agony aunt; or
creative groups with an opportunity to do art and drama.
April Wickens, Community Relations Officer, Jaguar Land Rover
said: 'We are pleased to re-establish our partnership with Acorns,
a local charity close to our manufacturing facilities, and in
particular to support the Siblings Project. I know that our
donation will be put to very good use helping the families of
children in Acorns care'.
Elinor Eustace, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Acorns
Children's Hospice, said: "We are extremely grateful to everyone at
Jaguar for their continued support for our Sibling Service.
"At a time where most of the family's attention is
understandably focused on the life limited child, siblings often go
unnoticed. Acorns is there to support these siblings as part of
continuing care for the whole family.
"We are currently supporting more than 300 siblings of all ages.
With this generous funding we will be able to offer a much greater
level of support including fabulous days out to Warwick Castle, The
Black Country Museum or bowling, for example.
"Our relationship with Jaguar is amazing. Long may it continue!"
added Elinor.
