Generous workers at a local training and employment specialist
have provided much needed kitchen appliances for New Dawn, a
Hereford charity helping the homeless move into independent
living.
Staff from Pertemps People Development Group (PPDG) in St Owen
St drew down funds from their company's payroll giving scheme to
purchase kettles, toasters, cutlery and other much needed
utensils.
New Dawn Floating Support began in 2002 to support young people
who having secured a Local Housing Association property, found
themselves at risk of eviction through debt and rent arrears.
In the last nine years around 150 young people of varying ages
and backgrounds have been helped by the charity who have provided
support in gaining a tenancy or support to maintain an existing
one.
Manager Tracy Davis conveyed her gratitude by saying: "A big
thanks to all those who contribute to the scheme. This is a
fantastic donation that will be well received by those possess
little or no personal belongings. Such donations make a huge
difference; maybe for the first time in their life people may have
their own front door and items to call their own."
Hereford manager Louise Hyett has experienced fist-hand just
what a difference the charity can make.
"I nominated them because although someone has a new home you
realise they need many things that we all take for granted." She
said. "As a community spirited organisation we have the ability to
use the fund for the benefit of those less fortunate whilst giving
a helping hand to local charities."
PPDG operates an extensive community support programme and is
extremely proud of recently surpassing the £150,000 milestone
of giving back to over 350 worthy causes through payroll donations
since inception in in 2004.
