Nottinghamshire company, Herbert Baggaley Construction is
working on a £2m contract for Loughborough University to
refurbish Village Court on the University's campus.
Baggaley is carrying out alterations and refurbishments to
modernise 14 existing student accommodation blocks. New kitchens,
showers and lounge facilities are being created as well as a basic
refurbishment of over 300 bedrooms.
The project is particularly challenging because of the need to
ensure continued access through the site and to neighbouring
accommodation blocks for staff and students. Works are being phased
to maintain a safe working environment at all times, and deliveries
are being carefully scheduled due to a lack of storage space.
To ensure that some of the new accommodation was available for
the current academic year, a very tight schedule was adhered to and
which continues to be adhered to, ensuring the phased completion of
the remaining accommodation in early 2012.
Managing director of Herbert Baggaley Construction, Ian
Baggaley, said, "We are proud to have been awarded another contract
from Loughborough University. Due to the success of the university
and this year's intake of students, we have liaised very closely
with both the client, construction team, and the head of
accommodation to ensure rooms were ready for early occupation."
