A multi-disciplinary team from GVA's Birmingham office has been
appointed to advise Malvern Hills Science Park regarding its future
expansion plans.
The Science Park, which is located off Geraldine Road in
Malvern, has to date been developed within a 10 acre site, which
has scope for further development. GVA's Agency, Planning, and
Project Management teams have been appointed to work alongside the
in-house team to develop strategies for attracting new tenants,
acquiring and developing expansion space and enhancing the profile
of the technology business incubation centre.
Malvern Hills Science Park currently comprises a total of 56,000
sq ft of lettable floor space over three phases. The first two
phases provide purpose-built premises for start-up and early stage
companies, with more established companies in phase three, which
includes provision for more technical uses, such as laboratories or
clean rooms.
A significant proportion of the businesses based at the Park
have links with QinetiQ; the most significant defence and security
research organisation in Europe, which employees over 1,000 people
at its Malvern campus situated on the adjacent site. GVA already
has a longstanding relationship with QinetiQ, having acted as the
company's planning and rating adviser for a number of
years.
Carl Potter, Director within GVA's Birmingham office comments:
"We are delighted to have been selected to provide planning, agency
and development advice to Malvern Hills Science Park. The Park is
incredibly important to the local economy, as well as to the wider
region, and there is significant potential for future expansion to
accommodate a range of technology and research companies.
"Many of the existing tenants are working in sectors which have
high-growth potential, so it is vital that there is suitable high
quality space for them to expand into when the need arises,
ensuring the home-grown talent, intellectual property and income
generation stays in Malvern. The Science Park currently occupies
part of a 10 acre site, but there is scope for this to increase in
size over the next decade to respond to market demand. As a
multi-disciplinary team, we are looking forward to working closely
with the in-house team, stakeholders, key tenants and partners to
drive forward plans to maximise the Park's potential."
Alan White, Chief Executive of Malvern Hills Science Park said:
"GVA's appointment brings on board a breadth of professional
development skills to enable us to grow the Science Park into a
globally significant engine for the growth of defence and security
technology companies."
Partners of Malvern Hills Science Park comprise Worcestershire
County Council, Malvern Hills District Council and the
Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce.
