The Skills Centre
whg's Skills Centre has expanded its offering to now include the
very latest in renewable energy technology installation and
maintenance.
Industry professionals can learn how to install and maintain
solar and photovoltaic panels, designed to generate heat and
electricity, at the dedicated training centre in the heart of the
Midlands.
whg has teamed up with sector leaders Ubbink and Worcester
Bosch, who jointly sponsor the newly opened renewable energy
facility, to equip it with hi-tech equipment so learners have the
most up-to-date technology at their fingertips.
Experienced assessor/tutors guide learners through the bespoke
and industry-accredited courses, from awarding bodies BPEC, City
& Guilds and EAL. Courses delivered on site include BPEC Solar
Photovoltaic, BPEC Domestic Hot Water Storage Systems and City
& Guilds 17th Edition Wiring Regulations.
The majority of courses are aimed at tradespersons keen to
receive training around renewable energy technology in order to
maximise the opportunities this growing market offers.
Other courses are open to a wider audience, for example the BPEC
Renewable Energy Technologies Awareness course. This programme is
of interest to anyone wanting an introduction to the benefits of
green energy, such as grants available and return on
investment.
The Skills Centre Manager Tim Rymond said: "Make no mistake;
demand for renewable energy will grow at a startling pace. Already
it is part and parcel of new-builds and now we are seeing it spread
from the commercial to the domestic sector. People are turning to
green energy to save money on fuel bills in the long term and
reduce their carbon footprint.
"The current and next generation of tradespersons need to make
sure they are in the know when it comes to fitting and maintaining
the technology that will become ever more widespread. We can offer
that expertise."
The Skills Centre also offers training in electrical skills,
plumbing and other construction trades, all taught in
fully-equipped, specialist workshops. Call the team on 0845 155
