To coincide with the launch of its annual Christmas Grotto,
Highcross Leicester has launched its very own festive toy appeal
and is urging shoppers to donate an extra gift for local
life-limited children this Christmas.
Highcross has positioned the Christmas drop box next to the
centre's customer information desk on the upper mall, where
shoppers can donate a present of their choice to Rainbows Hospice
for Children & Young People.
The drop box - in position from now until December 19 - will be
emptied in advance of the big day, with all toys going to the
children and young people visiting Rainbows over the festive
period.
Gurvinder Rupra, marketing manager at Highcross, said: "Not
everyone is fortunate enough to spend Christmas together in the
ways we take for granted, so we're hoping that generous
Leicestershire shoppers are able to bring a smile to the faces of
those visiting Rainbows this Christmas and make the day more
enjoyable for them.
"We're urging shoppers to donate gifts of all shapes and sizes,
but we do ask that they're new, unused and in their original
packaging."
Lisa Todd, a nurse at Rainbows, said: "Initiatives such as the
Christmas drop box are a great way to make a difference to the
lives of the children and young people that visit Rainbows.
"Toys play a really important role at Rainbows as they help
stimulate children of all ages and needs. We're really looking
forward to presenting the children and young people with the
generous gifts from the Leicestershire public."
