Get down to business at The National Trust’s first fine dining restaurant

The National Trust's inaugural fine dining restaurant is encouraging midlands companies to bring business back to the table after unveiling its corporate packages.

Barkers Restaurant, which is based at the National Trust's Clumber Park in Nottinghamshire, has launched a corporate meeting, conference and events service.

The award-winning restaurant, which opened in May, is situated in the home of former head gardener Samuel Barker, after whom it was named.  Accessed through the walled garden which supplies much of the restaurants' fresh produce, the ground floor features two beautifully appointed dining rooms, which can cater for 40 people.

Moving to the first floor, there are three meetings rooms, which have all been decorated to the same high standard as the restaurant. The Newcastle and Duchess rooms can cater for between 12 people seated in a U arrangement to 18 delegates in theatre or boardroom style, making them perfect for meetings, training and small conferences. This is complemented by Samuel's Study, which can cater for ten people in a traditional around-table seating arrangement.

And while the restaurant's location in Clumber's 3,800 acres of parkland may feel remote, Barkers' facilities are firmly grounded in the 21 Century; there's free Wi-Fi and everything else you could need, such as pads, pens and flip charts, to ensure your business event goes smoothly.

Barkers Restaurant offers two conference packages both of which include coffee, tea and pastries on arrival, refreshments throughout the day and boiled mints and sweets. Option one, available at either half or full day rates, includes a buffet working lunch of delicacies such as homemade finger sandwiches, sausages in honey and mustard dressing and mini quiches with seasonal fillings. Option two, available at full day rate only, gives delegates the opportunity to move to an adjoining break-out room and enjoy a two course seated meal from a mouthwatering menu created by head chef Uwe Siwy. Example dishes include roast fillet of salmon with an herb crust and autumn salad with seasonal potatoes followed by bread and butter pudding with vanilla and clotted cream ice-cream.   Room hire only is also available.

Speaking about the launch of the corporate service, David Price, Clumber Park's Catering Manager said: "Thanks to our dedicated meeting and boardroom facilities, Barkers Restaurant is the perfect venue for corporate meetings, events and conferences; it offers business leaders, their customers and employees the chance to get out of the office to a peaceful and tranquil setting where they can network, learn and plan in peace."

Barkers Restaurant opened following a 12 month refurbishment programme and the result is truly stunning. Heritage interior designer Jamie Hempsall has combined classical style with a contemporary twist to create a beautifully appointed luxurious restaurant that reflects the history of the National Trust's Clumber Park. The refurbishment and interior design have received national recognition, winning the Best Leisure Interiors category of the prestigious Property Awards.

However Barkers' links to the past doesn't stop there; the walled garden, where Samuel Barker grew an array of exotic produce to supply the 'big house' has been resurrected and now supplies the restaurant with fresh produce all year round.

As well as being rewarded for its interior design, Barkers has also been listed at #12 in the Times Top 30 places to have Sunday Lunch in the UK.

The restaurant is open for lunchtime service from 10am to 5pm between Wednesday and Sunday. From 25th November it will open Fridays and Saturday evenings from 6pm until 9pm.  For further information about Barkers Restaurants corporate meeting, conference and events service or to book, telephone 01909 544925.
