Employees from local contact centre Fusion, part of the BGL
Group, are gearing up for their next big charity adventure. Six
employees from Fusion Coventry, along with 24 colleagues will take
on the BGL Group China Trek in April 2012, which will see them walk
for up to nine hours each day along very steep and rugged sections
of the Great Wall.
The trek aims to raise a staggering £100k for the BGL
Group's corporate charity partner Marie Curie Cancer Care which
will fund free nursing care for people with terminal cancer and
other illnesses. Each trekker has been tasked with raising
£3,500 individual sponsorship for the trek, which takes place
from 20 - 28 April 2012. To get them started, BGL Group will be
donating a total of £24,750.
Group Chief Executive, Peter Winslow, said: "Following the huge
success of BGL's last Charity Trek in South Africa, I am delighted
to launch our next big fundraiser. The Great Wall of China Trek
will be a memorable experience for our employees, but it certainly
won't be a holiday, it will be a real challenge for those involved.
Everyone at BGL has really got behind our fundraising for Marie
Curie Cancer Care and I have no doubt they will extend their
support to this year's team."
Marie Curie's Corporate Fundraising Manager, Kate Thornton,
said: "We have been consistently impressed by the level of
enthusiasm and hard work that BGL employees have shown in
supporting the charity. Marie Curie Cancer Care is committed to
ensuring terminally ill people are able to spend their final days
in their place of choice and the money raised from this trek and
the BGL partnership helps make this possible. We wish them the very
best of luck in all their training and fundraising efforts."
