for BBC Children in Need
Staff at Mansfield based Herbert Baggaley Construction have had
a busy month or so with a whole series of fundraising
activities that have seen people baking and dressing up to raise
over £400 for four national charities.
For the BBC's Children in Need day staff paid £2 to come
to work in fancy dress with 1960s secret agent Austin Powers and
Fred Flintstone amongst others putting in special appearances.
A few weeks before, for the World's Largest Coffee Morning to
raise money for Macmillan, the construction company's staff turned
their hand to a spot of baking. With everything from cup cakes to
cookies and muffins to chocolate brownies on sale, there were
plenty of delicious cakes to tempt people with and there was not a
single crumb left by coffee time! Roll on the next one!
For the annual 'Jeans for Genes' day, every member of staff was
allowed to wear jeans to work - directors included - paying
£2 for the privilege and supporting children with genetic
disorders in the process.
This was followed by 'Wear it Pink' day to raise awareness for
breast cancer. Staff were encouraged to wear as much pink as
possible when they came to work. Many people based in the office
took the opportunity to brighten up what they normally wear with
some bright pink tops, ties and scarves.
Ian Baggaley, Managing Director, said: "We are very proud to do
our bit for charity and it's always nice to have a little fun in
the process. It's important for us all to realise that small fund
raising activities like this do make a real difference, playing a
vital part in raising much needed money for charities. I'd like to
thank everyone who joined in and donated to the days."
