The Clumber Park Hotel and Spa has just announced a critically
acclaimed artist, who has appeared on the front of The Times
magazine, is to judge their Falling Leaves Competition which was
launched on October 17th.
Neil Rands, aka Rama Ramski from Belton, will choose the winning
entry for the competition which has seen the hotel flooded with
artistic interpretations of a leaf from local children vying to
have their artwork exhibited at the hotel.
"The response to the competition has been incredible and we
couldn't have anticipated just how much it would capture the
imagination of children in the area," explains Edward Mobbs, the
hotel's Sales and Marketing Manager.
"We've had so many enquiries that we've now extended the
deadline to 17th November to give more people chance to enter and
also pushed back the week of the exhibition to the end of November
to tie in with National Tree Week," he says.
Every year since 1975 National Tree Week, the UK's largest
annual tree celebration launching the start of the winter tree
planting season, has encouraged people to celebrate the beautiful
trees surrounding us and not to take them for granted. Something
the Clumber Park Hotel and Spa are keen to support.
"The hotel's emblem is an Oak leaf and we're right on the
doorstep of Sherwood Forest," Ed continues, "so it seemed perfect
to support the competition to reinforce the message that we have
stunningly beautiful scenery in Nottinghamshire and we should
celebrate that."
The Falling Leaves Competition is open to three age range
groups: 4-6, 7-8 and 9-11 and the entry requirements are as
follows:
Each entry must depict a leaf and may be either a
drawing/painting or made out of papier-mâché.
Entries must be received by Thursday 17th November 2011 and
should be sent to the hotel.
Please state the name, age and contact details on each
entry.
The winner of each age range will be awarded a meal for them and
their family and also get to see their leaf exhibited in the
hotel's Normanton Inn throughout National Tree Week - 26th November
to 4th December.
"I was only five years old when teachers became aware of how
accurate my pictures were and how it was just second nature for me
to draw what I could see," explains Neil Rands. "So I know how
important it is to encourage artistic flair in young children."
"I'm really looking forward to seeing how the children in the
region depict and interpret a leaf. Judging from the entries
received so far, there's a lot of artistic talent right on
Nottinghamshire's doorstep waiting to blossom."
The closing date for entries to the Falling Leaves Competition
is Thursday 17th November 2011. The prize winner of each age range
will have their art exhibited in The Normanton Inn during National
Tree Week (26th November - 4th December) and also win a meal for 4
to be taken the same week. Entries should be sent to the Clumber
Park Hotel and Spa, Clumber Park, Near Worksop S80 3PA.
